Uses: Calcium Chloride is not used for its flavor, but for its chemical properties in pickling, brining, cheese production and molecular gastronomy.
Substitutes: Alum Powder, Citric Acid, Ascorbic Acid Vitamin C Powder and Cream of Tartar
Fun Fact: Calcium Chloride is commonly used in Molecular Gastronomy to create "spheres", a technique that was first introduced by Chef Ferran Adria in 2003.
