Below are three photos to give you an idea of how much product you will receive in each size package. We filled up each size bag with marbles and placed them next to a quarter to provide a clear representation. There are two different photos, one for standard spices/seasonings and one for herbs. Since many herbs are so leafy the same weight will fill up a much larger bag. This is why some of the herb prices seem a lot higher than the spice prices, but you are actually receiving more product.

The third image is of our 1 cup Bottle with Sifter next to a popular national brand found in most grocery stores. You can see that our bottle holds close to 2.5 times more product than the national brand bottle. Plus, ours often costs less! Please be aware some other online retailers only offer 1/2 cup(4 fluid ounces) bottles. We choose to offer double the size 1 cup (8 fluid ounces) bottles to give you the biggest bang for your buck!

We hope you can see from these images that regardless of which size you order, you are getting a lot of product and a very good value compared to the supermarket.

  • Yield: 8 slices

  • Level of Difficulty: Easy

  • Cook Time: 30 Minutes

  • Prep Time: 15 Minutes

Ingredients

  • A soft French bread loaf (or Italian loaf) both available in your grocer’s bakery

  • 4 tablespoons

    butter

  • 4 tablespoons

    olive oil

  • 4

crushed garlic cloves (about 4 teaspoons)

  • 1 pound

    ground sausage, browned and drained

  • 1 small can

    sliced olives

  • 1 cup

    sliced mushrooms

  • 14 ounce can

    pizza sauce

  • 1/8 teaspoon

Crushed Red Pepper Flakes (more if you like it spicy!)

  • 1/2 teaspoon

    Oregano

  • 1 teaspoon

    Italian Seasoning Mix

  • 2 cups

    shredded mozzarella

Directions

Preheat the oven to 425-degrees.

Start by browning the ground sausage in a medium saucepan. In a smaller pan, melt the butter and combine with the olive oil. Add the minced garlic to the pan and saute until lightly brown.

Meanwhile, slice the bread length-wise. Firmly press each slice down on a cutting board to flatten and make it less fluffy.

Add the red pepper flakes, oregano, and Italian Seasoning to the butter mixture. Stir until fragrant, (just a few moments) and remove from the heat.

Use a brush to rub the butter garlic mix over each length of bread. Be sure to pick up the pieces of garlic and spices!

Add a thin layer of mozzarella to each slice of bread. Bake until just melted, about 8 minutes. This layer of cheese is going to “protect” the bread from the juicy filling so it won’t become mushy!

Remove the bread from the oven and set aside to cool and harden.

Drain and crumble the sausage. Add to a small bowl. Combine with the olives, mushrooms and pizza sauce. Stir together. Distribute over the bread. Top with the remaining mozzarella.

Place back in the oven to reheat the filling, and melt the cheese, 425-degrees for another 10 minutes. Remove from the oven and slice into pieces. Enjoy!
